The 6th Health Administration in the context of its strategic planning to draw up policies that improve the health conditions of the population it focuses on innovation and pioneering.

It seeks partnerships, funding and participation in projects that will contribute to the fulfillment of the above objectives. As an administrative organization it seeks not only to successfully manage current needs but also to chart the way for the future.

In this direction, it successfully claimed the “Health4EUkids” project, part of the European funding of the HADEA organization, in collaboration with the Hygiene Laboratory of the Medical School of the University of Patras and under the scientific responsibility and supervision of Dr. Apostolos Vantarakis, Professor of Hygiene.

The approval of the program and the assuming of a coordinating role by the 6th Health Administration, with the participation of health agencies and research institutes from 12 European countries, with a duration of 3 years, puts the organization in a pioneering position in the effort to apply best practices at the European level.

“Health4EUkids” aims to implement in the field of health promotion and prevention of non-communicable diseases, indicating best practices and risk factors from research results that have already developed by previous actions at a wider level and countries.

The overall objective of the program is to develop practices to promote investments in public health at community level in each member of the country for Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Non-communicable Disease Management.

The implementation process will include the transfer of knowledge between best practices developed in research programs (Smart Family and Grunau Moves) and partner organizations from Member States through the implementation of actions, collaboration and exchange of knowledge between Member States, organization of meetings and related support techniques.

The object of the project will be to promote healthy lifestyles of the participating Member States in families with children in order to prevent child obesity, increase physical activity and healthy nutrition in children, families and communities with an emphasis on social standards, recognition and self-esteem in deprived areas in the Member States.

Also, to study the different requirements for Member States to implement the developed good practices such as Grunau Moves and Smart Family.

Finally, to prepare the sustainability of these best practices and transfer them to other Member States based on the knowledge and experience gained.

The expected research results focus on identifying specific challenges in the prevention of Non-communicable Diseases and policy solutions in the form of best practices and innovative solutions for collective action between Member States and the Commission, to address the main public health challenges.
