At the kick-off meeting of the European program “Health4EUkids” that took place on Tuesday morning in Athens, the Chairman of the 6th Health Administration, Yannis Karvelis, spoke.
The 6th Health Administration, in collaboration with the University of Patras and scientifically responsible the professor of hygiene Dr. Apostolos Vantarakis, actively participates in the Health4EUKids project for its implementation in the Greek health system. It has also taken on European level the coordination with the other participants. Yannis Karvelis: “Our goal is optimal conditions for a healthy environment for our children”. “The goal of the program is to identify those causes that create problems for our children and to create the best conditions for them to live in an accessible environment and at the same time to avoid this scourge called obesity”. Adding the following: “For this purpose, the National Health System cannot have direct intervention through European programs and I think that useful conclusions will be drawn that will help to avoid this problem. At the same time, we will try to take part in other programs related to public health”, Mr. Karvelis said, among other things, in his speech. Health4EUkids The project “Health4EUkids” is a joint action of the EU4Health European program funded by HaDEA. It has a three-year duration with the participation of 12 European countries and a total of 22 agencies, for the implementation of good practices and results of research on Healthy Lifestyles for child obesity. Specifically, the οbjective of the “Health4EUkids” project will be the implementation of good practices, namely GRÜNAU MOVES (developed in Germany) and Smart Families (developed in Finland) which concern child obesity and the healthy eating habits of children and adolescents as well as support of their families and health personnel. The aim of the program is, through the implementation of actions in the community for the implementation of best practices, the development of health policies and their implementation.   Participants The “Health4EUkids” project consists of 12 countries (12 beneficiaries and 10 affiliated entities) from the health sector and academia that contribute with different backgrounds, expertise and know-how to the achievement of the project’s objectives.   List of Participants

Health4EUKids -Your kid's health our priority!The “HEALTH4EUkids” Joint Action aims to implement health promotion and prevention strategies for child obesity across European countries. It seeks to share best practices and research findings, particularly focusing on the initiatives Grunau Moves from Germany and Smart Family from Finland. The project involves knowledge transfer, cooperation between member states, policy development, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles in families and communities. Its goal is to prevent childhood obesity, increase physical activity and healthy diet, and ensure the sustainability and transferability of successful practices to other member states.
