HEALTH4EUKIDS @ ISBNPA2025 at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. The theme of the conference “Take care of the environment, take care of the people, take care of the future” seamlessly fits within the objectives of Health4EUKids.
There, the work of Belgium in WP5, Grünau Moves, will be presented by Jessie Van Kerckhove of Sciensano on Wednesday 11th of June during the Award Session: Policies and Environments / Participatory research. Not only will she focus on the participatory methods used to create different actions, but the focus will also be installed on how to sustainably engage local governments and their citizens to continuously work on improving the environment, ensuring equitable access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity. Ultimately, these actions can have a high potential in combatting childhood overweight and obesity for all.
Additionally, she will also present the results of the scoping review on local government actions targeting physical activity, sedentary behaviour, dietary behaviour and breastfeeding on Saturday 14th of June in a short oral presentation during the session “Innovative tools and global trends in policy and environment”. This presentation will highlight a clear potential role of local governments to contribute to obesity prevention through targeted actions.

The “HEALTH4EUkids” Joint Action aims to implement health promotion and prevention strategies for child obesity across European countries. It seeks to share best practices and research findings, particularly focusing on the initiatives Grunau Moves from Germany and Smart Family from Finland. The project involves knowledge transfer, cooperation between member states, policy development, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles in families and communities. Its goal is to prevent childhood obesity, increase physical activity and healthy diet, and ensure the sustainability and transferability of successful practices to other member states.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s EU4HEALTH Programme under the Grant Agreement no 101082462
