In the context of the European project Health4EUKids and the implementation of the Work Package 5 “GRUNAU MOVES” the students of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade of the 29th Primary School of Patras and the 32nd Primary School of Patras participated in an experiential course with various workstations, cooking healthy snacks, learning the concept of food portion, the food pyramid, how to measure hidden sugar in food and oral hygiene that were implemented in a specially designed space at the KEFIAP of the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital.
The Chairman of the 6th Health ADM, Giannis Karvelis, was next to the children during the action, while he “attempted” to cook and be “judged” by the “committee” made up of children! The Manager of the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital, Aspasia Rigopoulou, was also present.
The team that planned and implemented the actions under the supervision of the Scientific Manager of the project, Professor Apostolos Vantarakis of the University of Patras, Head of the Hygiene Laboratory, consisted of:

The “HEALTH4EUkids” Joint Action aims to implement health promotion and prevention strategies for child obesity across European countries. It seeks to share best practices and research findings, particularly focusing on the initiatives Grunau Moves from Germany and Smart Family from Finland. The project involves knowledge transfer, cooperation between member states, policy development, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles in families and communities. Its goal is to prevent childhood obesity, increase physical activity and healthy diet, and ensure the sustainability and transferability of successful practices to other member states.
